Whether in your personal or professional life you know a Nigerian, male or female that is either successful or on the verge of success. It’s our personal belief that Nigerians breathe a special kind of air from birth that instills in them the desire and hustle to achieve levels of success never seen before, and by any means necessary. For some, all they hear and know are the negative stereotypes that cloud a population of 182.2 million but those who know, know better.
All jokes (air) aside, Nigerians are successful because they truly believe in themselves and their people. The Nigerian homegrown support is unmatched! Nigerians will like, love and support their concepts and brands whether it’s movies, songs, artist, products etc. 1.) They will support the business; and 2.) Push it out to the rest of the world as if they are sharing a secret with us which they are because at the end of the day they don’t care whether you like it or not, as long as they love it. This type of homegrown support will carry it forward, as their saying goes #naijanodeycarrylast!
I say all of this to say, the power of having the support and love of your own people is truly the key to success whether you come from a country with a small population like The Gambia or similarly, large like Ethiopia, love and support the efforts from people who look like you and sound like you because why not!
Pstttt, to my fellow Africans support means to actually make a purchase (monetary exchange), show up to events, spread the word and offer solicited constructive criticism.
